Sumit wins Bhubaneswar Schools Open chess title

Sumit Ojha of DAV Public School (Pokhariput) won the title in the 30th Bhubaneswar Schoos Open Chess Tournament, garnering 7.5 points out of a possible eight at Secretariat Recreation Club here today. Piyush Kumar Chinara of Stewart School finished runner-up with 6.5 points, while defending champion Amrutanshu Mohapatra of DAV Public School (Unit-VIII) contended himself with the third position, scoring six points.

Altogether 71 players form 18 schools participated in the two-day tournament, which was organised by Bhubaneswar Chess Association (BCA). Orissa Secretariat Recreation Club  general secretary Managovinda Dalei was the chief guest of the closing function. BCA secretary Arati Bijoy Mohanty and games director Debasis Panigrahi were present on the occasion.
